Basingstoke Charity Lorry Pull

On Tuesday 5th July operators from the Basingstoke area pulled a Lorry and Tanker 100m to raise money for Max. You can read Max’s story from his mum below:

At 6 months it was clear Max wasn’t progressing like other babies and we thought that this was just due to the fact he was premature and had delayed development. Max was unable to sit, crawl or bear weight on his legs. As time went on we found Max was falling increasingly behind his friends and it became a very emotional time seeing him not being able to join in and realising there must be an underlying heath issue.

Max was referred to a specialist and the news we feared most was confirmed in January 2015.

At the age of 2, Max is now able to sit with a rounded back and catch himself most of the time if he falls due to poor balance. With great effort he can move from lying to sitting and he commando crawls to get around.

Max is an extremely smiley little boy and has a wonderful sense of humour. He is very loving and we couldn’t be more proud of him. We, as parents want to give max the best quality of life he can possibly have as it is heart-breaking when he cannot do the simplest activities with his friends and he gets visibly distressed. Therefore, we are arranging for him to undergo the SDR operation in July 2016 at St Louis Children’s Hospital in Missouri, USA. Unfortunately, as this is a relatively new procedure in the UK, the NHS trial funding has dried up and we have no other choice but to raise funds for the operation and aftercare ourselves.”

Even though the event has passed you can still donate £5 to Max’s fund by texting MAXM47 to 70070. All the money collected goes towards helping Max get the best quality of life as possible!

Thank you for all your support!
